Sports Officials Symposium

In partnership with the Indiana Sports Corp, Indiana High School Athletic Association, National Federation of State High School Associations and Officially Human, the 2nd annual Officiating Symposium (Virtual) was held Tuesday March 9 at 7 p.m. ET. The goal of the Symposium was to raise awareness on the shortage of officials as well as promote officiating as a profession.

The event included Dean Blandino (Fox and NFL Rules Analyst), followed by Mary Podesta, Annice Canady and Tangela Mitchell, who have broken down barriers in officiating the sport of football. Michigan High School Sports Association Executive Director, Mark Uyl and his son Jackson shared how officiating can be a family affair. Amanda Bender and Laschelle Hatcher provided their stories of how they decided to officiate and informed attendees on how to get started.
